Saturday School Coordinator

 

Job Title: Saturday School Coordinator
Location: Gateshead (In-person, Saturdays)
Contract Type: Fixed-term (12 months)
Working Hours: 10 hours per week (Saturdays and planning time)
Salary: £12.50 per hour (£6,500 per annum)
FTE Equivalent: £24,375 per annum (based on 37.5 hours/week)


Role Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and organised Saturday School Coordinator to lead and manage our Saturday School programme in Gateshead. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, youth development, and community engagement. You will be responsible for coordinating weekly sessions, managing volunteers, and supporting young learners and their families to ensure a positive and enriching learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate engaging and educational Saturday School sessions.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers and session facilitators.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and community partners to support learner engagement.
  • Monitor attendance, progress, and feedback to continuously improve the programme.
  • Ensure safeguarding and health & safety policies are upheld at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports to the programme manager.


Person Specification


Essential:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or community setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.


Desirable:

  • Experience in programme coordination or volunteer management.
  • Knowledge of the local community and educational landscape in Gateshead.
  • First Aid and/or Safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake training).
