At NEDES Saturday School, we create a welcoming place where children can learn with confidence, discover new interests and build lasting friendships. Our programme supports children from refugee, migrant and local communities by providing high-quality educational activities, mentoring and enrichment opportunities in a safe and inclusive environment.

Our Saturday School has become a trusted place where children feel valued, parents feel supported and families become part of a caring community.

Why This Project Matters

Many children face challenges that make learning more difficult outside school.

Some families are adjusting to life in a new country. Others may experience language barriers, financial pressures or limited access to additional educational support.

Parents often want to help with homework but may not be familiar with the UK education system or feel confident supporting certain subjects.

Our Saturday School helps remove barriers by providing free educational support in a friendly and encouraging environment where children feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes and continue learning.

A Safe and Inclusive Environment Creating a safe environment is one of our highest priorities. Our activities are delivered by dedicated volunteers who care deeply about every child's wellbeing. We promote respect, kindness and inclusion so that every child feels welcomed regardless of their background, culture or language. We work hard to create an environment where diversity is celebrated and every child feels that they belong.

Who Can Join?

Our Saturday School welcomes children from:
Refugee families
Asylum-seeking families
Migrant communities
Local families
Children who would benefit from additional educational support
Everyone is welcome.

Educational Support
Our volunteers provide additional support in key subjects including mathematics, English and science. Children receive guidance that complements their learning at school while developing confidence in their own abilities.
Homework Support
Children can complete homework with the support of experienced volunteers who encourage independent learning and good study habits.
Friendships and Belonging
Nedes Saturday School is also a place where children make friends, celebrate diversity and feel part of a welcoming community.
