We, at NEDES, unequivocally condemn the recent racist attacks targeting migrants and ethnic minorities in the UK. These acts of violence are fundamentally at odds with human rights and the values we uphold. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who stands for unity and solidarity, especially the law enforcement officers and the conscientious citizens who have shown remarkable restraint and support during these trying times.
Our objectives at NEDES focus on advancing the education of children and young people in languages, culture, tradition, and other subjects of educational value. We also aim to promote social inclusion by working with socially excluded individuals in the North East of England due to their ethnic origin, religion, belief, or creed. Facilitating community events and activities is crucial to fostering understanding between diverse backgrounds and local communities.
The recent attacks are a stark reminder of the importance of our mission. We firmly reject the ideologies of extremist and marginal groups and reaffirm our commitment to unity and togetherness. We must protect our community's safety and well-being by standing against hate and division.
We are immensely grateful to the public servants, particularly the police, for their unwavering efforts to ensure the safety of our communities. Their dedication and diligence in protecting ethnic and religious groups, especially during these challenging times, are commendable. We acknowledge the need for continued efforts to safeguard our communities and call upon everyone to support the police in their duties and avoid actions that could exacerbate the situation.
At NEDES, we believe in the power of dialogue to counter extremism and hate. Increasing dialogue within our communities is essential to eliminating hatred and fostering peace. We are committed to intensifying our efforts in promoting dialogue and encourage everyone to join and support initiatives that bring people together. Collective action is our strongest tool in building a society based on understanding and mutual respect.
Together, we can overcome adversity and build a more inclusive and harmonious society for all.
We are excited to share a meaningful project we recently conducted for the homeless community. Coming together as a community, we took a significant step forward to help those in need, becoming a beacon of hope for them.
As part of our initiative, we prepared and distributed packages containing books, gloves, beanies, beverages, and food to individuals living on the streets. This effort would not have been possible without the generous support of our partners. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Literacy Trust, Gateshead Foodbank, Gateshead Citizen Advice, and Gateshead Youth Council for their invaluable contributions.
Additionally, we want to express our deep gratitude to the students of NEDES Saturday School and the Saturday volunteers who participated in this project. Your dedication, energy, and enthusiasm were pivotal to the success of our mission. As future leaders, you have taken significant steps towards adding value to our society. It has been a great pleasure and inspiration to work with you. Thank you, young volunteers, for your wonderful contributions that illuminate a brighter future.
Together, we are making a difference and building a stronger, more compassionate community.
We recently had the pleasure of hosting an exciting digital art video workshop, where the incredible Year 8 students from XP Gateshead School joined forces with our Year 5 students. The energy in the room was electric, and creativity flowed freely as young minds explored new horizons.
Our budding artists dove headfirst into the world of digital art. Armed with tablets, styluses, and boundless enthusiasm, they embarked on a journey of self-expression. From vibrant colors to intricate designs, their screens came alive with imagination.
Thank You, XP Gateshead School! A heartfelt shout-out to XP Gateshead School for making this collaboration possible. Your students’ passion and talent left an indelible mark on our hearts. We eagerly await future sessions, ready to explore more creative avenues together.
On March 22nd, at the St. Mary’s Heritage Centre, we co-hosted the “Gateshead Community Dialogue and Diversity Iftar Dinner” with NEDES, Gateshead Community BridgeBuilders, and the Dialogue Society. It was an unforgettable evening of community celebration.
This special event brought people from various cultures and backgrounds together, allowing us to discover the beauty and strength in our diversity. Our program, filled with guest speakers, live music, a sand art light show, and more, reinforced our mission to promote peace and unity.
A huge thank you to the dedicated parents of NEDES Saturday School, all volunteers, and our guests. Thank you to everyone who prepared the delicious foods from different cuisines that we got to enjoy. The event was held in a place that inspired community spirit, making it a meaningful experience for all of us.
“Creating a society in peace and unity requires strong relationships, which means we need to listen and understand each other more.” This belief was at the heart of our event, and we’re thankful to everyone who contributed to this important dialogue.
We’re looking forward to having you with us again, to make the next one even better. Let’s make it happen together.
This ceremony designed to recognize and celebrate the remarkable contributions of young volunteers. This event aims to encourage and honor the dedication and passion of these young individuals who have selflessly devoted their time and energy to making a positive impact on their communities and the world.
